The 2009 Pleasure Beach Boat Lift and Beach Cleanup
Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 5:12PM Well the proof is in the pudding, and we've got the photos to prove it. The most abused place in Connecticut, Pleasure Beach, once called, "The Jewel of The Eastern Seaboard" is covered in trash, refuse and garbage. But no one is allowed there and no one lives there to protect it, so the trash will remain until we come back for another assault on the pollution at Pleasure Beach.

The good news is that we took as much as we could with us when we boat lifted more than 50 volunteers out to the beach on Saturday Aug 15 to collect as much trash as we could fit in our 15 boat fleet comprised of both CCB and privately owned vessels.
The flotsam and jetsam abounds as you can see from these photos, but the pile of trash we brought back is amazing.
The trash strewn in this inlet is outrageous- check out more photos of the effort by cliicking on the web album belowNo doubt many of the foam billets that dot the shoreline and a good deal of trash comes from the abandoned cottages that remain on the Stratford side, but thats not to say the thousands of plastic bottles we saw don't come from careless recyclers or worse, litter bugs.
It is our hope to return to Pleasure Beach soon to collect even more of the trash and debris that is poisoning our Greatest Natural Resource and maybe some day soon, set up a CCB Outpost at Pleasure Beach to help protect the largest chunk of undeveloped Beachfront in Connecticut.

I am very surprised that Connecticut Post did not cover this effort to clean up Pleasure Beach. The people who gave their time and energy to do this deserve our praise. Many thanks to all.
Thank you for stopping by to make a comment. Everyone was impressed by the amount of resources our organization was able to muster. Working in that sun all day really wiped a few people out.

Interesting post. Good for perspective. I personally like the fact that the meters are in place. It encourages people to be conscious about the use of parking, which makes for a better experience when going into downtown replica chronoswiss watches
