A Final Wrap Up...

The season has ended and the holidays are just around the corner. Before you know it, the flakes will be flying and w'll be ringing in 2010! So before you dig in to your Turkey Day dinner, here's a few things we have going on:

The Eco-Classroom has arrived! The 10'X40' trailer turned wood shop is now on site at the CCB Boat Launch. Thank you to The Pelligrino's of Ashford who donated the facility and Thank you to Midtown Towing who transported the rolling behemoth down to the Park City. It arrived just in time for CCB to receive a grant from RYSAP and the Mayor's Be Green Block by Block Initiative

CCB was one of 10 recipients awarded grants to make the Park City a little more environmentally aware with funding to support a "green" project. CCB will create the off-grid classroom facility that will allow us year round operation, including The Maritime Explorers Program and will allow us to be home to a Seascout ship along with any number of other sea-side community activities. We're hoping to bring the classroom online just after the new year and looking for volunteers to help out paint, clean and prepare the classroom- call 203-382-3661 if you'd like to help.

And you know what, we've already have had some awesome help and fun at the 2009 End of Season Social and Awards. With more than 100 revelers and some great tunes performed by the Sun Kings,we raised more than $1000 and had a fabulous time while we were at it. That funding will go to support the CCB Junior Program including the eco-classroom.

But wait there's more! You can still help out CCB and cut down on your shopping time this holiday season when you give the gift of sailing! Save the trip to Clinton Corners on Black Friday and skip the lines at the Connecticut Post and get a CCB Gift Certificate for your loved one's this holiday. You can share the world of sailing with someone who has always wanted to learn sail with a gift certificate or pledge a plank in your loved one's honor. With every gift certificate of $100 or more, you'll get a CCB T-shirt to wrap and stick under the tree.

So there's a ton gong, much to do and a bunch of ways to do it! Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving and we'll see you on the water!
